Kenzo was founded in 1970 by Takada Kenzo, a Japanese designer who moved to Paris in 1964. As one of the first male students to attend the Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo, he felt compelled to leave his mark on the fashion industry and so introduced the world to his very own interpretation of the “Fashion Jungle” shortly after moving to Paris. His first fashion line was for women only, though in 1983 he expanded to accommodate the more discerning men and soon went on to develop both a kids and home collection in 1987. Kenzo has always worked towards a multicultural world, a world of colours and beauty, with nature as a vibrant, inexhaustible source of inspiration.

Although Kenzo is now owned by LVMH (Louis Vuitton, Moët, Hennessy), a French multinational luxury goods conglomerate, it is still recognised as a brand in its own right thanks to designers like Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, who remain faithful to the avant-garde essence of Kenzo. This has attracted the attention of some global superstars like Beyonce, Selena Gomez and Rihanna, who are often seen sporting the Kenzo attire.

The first women’s perfume by Kenzo was Ca Sent (1989), which has some gorgeous fruity floral notes like mandarin orange and African orange flower. Some other popular women’s perfumes by Kenzo include the sweet and powdery Kashaya (1993), the exotically warm and spicy Jungle Elephant (1996), the aquatically floral L’Eau Par Kenzo (1996), the fruity and woody Le Monde Est Beau (1997), the famously floral Flower (2000), the sumptuously green Parfum D’Ete (2002), the sweet and musky Amour (2006), the beautifully Oriental and balsamic Madly (2011), the gorgeously floral Flower In The Air (2013) and many more.
